An investigative report aired by ABC7’s Chuck Goudie this week highlighted the state’s history of elected officials who have been charged and convicted of public profiteering over the last two decades. In the report, Goudie noted 891 convictions of public corruption in Illinois since 2000- the highest in the nation.
“These conviction numbers don’t even include former Senator Sandoval or others ensnared in the current federal investigation,” said State Representative Grant Wehrli. “It is inexcusable that deep-rooted corruption has gone on for so long with no substantive action taken by the General Assembly to clean things up.”
