Residents from Naperville and Warrenville who have questions about legislation passed this year in Springfield are invited to join State Representative Grant Wehrli (R-Naperville) for an open topics town hall meeting on Tuesday, September 10. The meeting will be held at the Naperville Municipal Building (council chambers), located at 400 South Eagle Street, and will take place from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM.
The meeting will feature a short legislative session update by Wehrli, followed by a question and answer session with audience members. “There was a great deal of legislation approved this year and some of it was quite controversial,” said Wehrli. “The approval of recreational use marijuana, for example, continues to be an issue of great importance and interest to my constituents because people want to know how the new recreational cannabis law will impact the community.”
Tuesday’s meeting is one of two town hall meetings scheduled for September in the 41st District. On Thursday, September 26, Wehrli will host a similar meeting in Warrenville at the City Hall at 7:00 PM.
“Most of the time at these meetings will be dedicated to answering questions and seeking input on legislative issues,” said Wehrli. “Public participation is important, and it is a tremendous help as I work on behalf of the citizens of the 41st Legislative District in Springfield. As we prepare to return to the Capitol next month for the fall veto session, I am interested in public opinions and feedback on issues that affect the State of Illinois.”
Wehrli said the audience will determine the flow of the public meeting. “The items we discuss will be driven by the audience,” added Wehrli. “I invite all residents who live in the 41st District to bring their questions, suggestions and concerns to this open topics town hall.”
